    Monday 24 September, during the visit of Queen Sonja of Norway to Rouen and in the presence of Frédérique Vidal, France’s Minister for Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and Iselin Nybø, Norway’s Minister for Science and Higher Education, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and Christian Hauglie-Hanssen, Director General of the Norwegian Space Centre (NSC), signed a cooperation agreement relating to the NorSat-3 maritime surveillance mission.

  4. France-United States space cooperation CALIPSO mission marks 10 years in orbit

    CNES and its partners, NASA and participating laboratories celebrated yesterday the 10th anniversary of the CALIPSO mission, a marvellous symbol of the successful space cooperation between France and the United States. Ten years after launch, CALIPSO is still sounding the atmosphere, a key mission at a time when climate issues are an important focus of attention for the space sector.

    Monday 29 October, the China France Oceanography Satellite (CFOSat) was placed into orbit by a Chinese Long March 2C launch vehicle from the Jiuquan launch base in Inner Mongolia. CFOSat’s solar array deployed successfully 32 minutes later and the satellite started its science mission to study ocean surface winds and waves.

  11. State visit of French President to Republic of Korea- Preparations for space agenda of COP21, Memorandum of understanding signed on space and climate

    Monday 20 June in Moscow saw the opening of the exhibition on “50 years of French-Russian space cooperation” at the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics. In attendance at this ceremony were the museum’s Director Natalia Artioukhina, Roscosmos Deputy Head Michail N. Khailov, Frédéric Mondoloni, Minister-Advisor at the French Embassy in Russia, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and numerous representatives of the Russian space community.

  15. CNES and satsearch sign agreement to support future space systems engineering

    Tuesday 26 June at the Toulouse Space Show, CNES signed an agreement with satsearch to develop tools and processes to support future space systems engineering. This effort ties in with satsearch’s push towards Data-Driven Design™ (D3) for the space industry. The relationship will be initiated by a project to build a native integration of satsearch’s supply chain database into CNES’s Integrated Design Model (IDM) concurrent engineering software.

    Wednesday 3 June, at the 12th session of the Strategic Dialogue between France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), held by videoconference due to the continuing COVID-19 health crisis, CNES and the United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA) reviewed their progress in space cooperation. The Strategic Dialogue provides for an annual high-level meeting to promote and advance cooperation between the two nations. A dedicated Space sub-committee, co-chaired by CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and UAESA Director General Mohammed Al Ahbabi, governs space cooperation between France and the UAE.
