    The 67th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), the annual gathering of the international space community, came to a close on Friday 30 September in Guadalajara with CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall taking up his post as the new President of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) after a moving handover speech from Kiyoshi Higuchi, the Federation’s President for the last four years.

    Tuesday 6 March, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was in Rabat at the invitation of Driss El Hadani, Director of Morocco’s Royal Centre for Remote Sensing (CRTS), to open the first international workshop prepared together on the benefits and applications of remote-sensing data from the Copernicus programme’s Sentinel satellites.

  8. CNES in Montevideo for GLAC 2018 (Global Space Application Conference 2018)

    Monday 21 May in Montevideo, in the presence of Uruguay’s Defence Minister Jorge Menéndez, Jean-Yves Le Gall, President of CNES and the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), gave the opening address at the Global Space Application Conference 2018 (GLAC 2018). Co-organized by IAF and CIDA-E (Centro de Investigación y Difusión Aeronáutico-Espacial), an IAF member since 1985, GLAC 2018 follows on from GLAC 2014, which gave the international satellite applications community the chance to make significant strides in planning and development of its activities. GLAC 2018 offers governments, space agencies, industry and entrepreneurs a high-level forum to discuss, analyse and compare perspectives on progress achieved and to look to the future of space applications on a global scale.

  9. French space shines at IAC 2018 in Bremen- Paris to host 72nd IAC in 2021

    The 69th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), focused on the theme ‘Involving Everyone’, came to a close today in Bremen, Germany, with the selection of Paris as host city for IAC 2021. This leading event in the space calendar has held all its promises and proved a huge success. CNES’s participation was especially noteworthy, with a series of agreements signed and new partnerships sealed with various international space players, large numbers of visitors to the agency’s stand and a high standard of technical presentations from its scientists and engineers.

  14. CNES at COPUOS sessions and IAF Symposium in Vienna

    The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) held its first Symposium on Wednesday 8 February in Vienna, following the 54th session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS). CNES and IAF President Jean-Yves Le Gall presented the federation’s Global Innovation Agenda 2016-2019 and upcoming events to delegates.

    The 66th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Jerusalem came to a close on Friday 16 October with the election of CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall as the next President of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), for a three-year term starting in September 2016. This year’s congress, a key event in the world space calendar, has been a great success, notably for CNES with numerous agreements signed, high numbers of visitors to its booth and excellent technical presentations by the agency’s scientists and engineers. It also gave CNES the opportunity to sign a first Research and Technology agreement with the Israel Space Agency (ISA).

  20. “More Space for more Europe” CNES and IAF at the 10th Conference on European Space Policy

    Tuesday 23 January, Jean-Yves Le Gall, CNES President and President of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), was at the 10th Conference on European Space Policy in Brussels alongside Maros Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission, and Elzbieta Bienkowska, European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. In his address, Jean-Yves Le Gall underlined Europe’s success in space, led by the European Commission, ESA and national agencies, chief among them CNES. He then detailed IAF’s role in the international space arena, the challenges it is facing and the assets it can bring to bear. He also announced the creation of an IAF Global Innovation Agenda.
