Laboratories

Laboratories in which ground models of scientific racks or experiments can be found have three main functions:

  • Equipment and programs preparation

These laboratories are used by scientists to test their equipment and validate their experiments.

In addition to an inflight program, it is possible to develop new equipment extensions (new inserts for instance).

Finally, at the request of scientists, additional calibration checks can be performed.

  • Preparation and validation of operations

These laboratories are used by heads of the operations to get accustomed to the equipment and to develop and validate procedures used for the experiment. They can also test any software changes for the inflight experiment.

  • Troubleshooting

Should there be any problems, specialists can take part and test and validate their troubleshooting solutions.
